You’re about to enter the radical world of Algebra2, man. Here’s how it goes.

Expect more than enough homework to ruin your social life. Ha, nah man, I’m kidding but seriously Mrs. Smith gives homework pretty often (it’s not so bad unless you’re lazy like me). Expect you’ll need your calculator frequently. Like all the time dude. Your calculator will become your BMFF (best math friend forever). Expect some cheesy yet enjoyable math jokes. Lastly, expect graphing to be everywhere. Eventually, you do learn to dig it.

Passing the class can sometimes feel impossible but it’s not, man. Try to pay attention during class. The lessons are lengthy and it’s easy to get distracted but try to pay good attention. Taking good notes would also be helpful especially if you’re not paying much attention. Lastly if you fail to pay attention and or take good notes show up for tutoring. Mrs. Smith will help you if you ask her to. So, if you need help ask for it, man.

Algebra2 is pretty different from the last two years. The first time you see Algebra1 one it’s like “I think there’s a typo. My math problems have alphabet in them, man.” Then Geometry was supposed to be just shapes and it was like “oh, hey look we threw in lines and other non-shapes.” Whereas Algebra2 is just putting things on graphs all the time. By the end of the year you’ll be tired of seeing graphs.

I think the easiest lesson is matrices. It’s super easy and it’s one of the few math things I’m really good at. It’s one of those processes that takes a while but one you get the hang of it you just speed through the assignments, man. Matrices are towards the middle of the year so I guess now you have something to look forward to?

I think what was really hard to understand was how to identify monomials and bi and trinomials and just nomials in general, man. I still don’t really know how to and I lost...
