PRESENTATION OF HUAWEI

Huawei Technologies is the largest networking and telecommunications equipment supplier in China. Established in 1988 by Ren Zhengfei, Huawei Technologies is a private high-tech enterprise specialized in research and development, production and marketing of communications equipments and providing customized network solutions for telecom carriers.

The company is fully staff-owned and directed by the founder Ren Zhengfei in a strict hierarchal structure. Ren Zhengfei is the main, the final, and sometimes the only decision maker at Huawei. As the largest Chinese telecom equipment maker, Huawei is also China’s largest employer. From 1999 to 2001, the company averaged almost 5,000 new recruits each year. Huawei employs today over 44,000 employees worldwide, of whom 48% are dedicated to Research and Development.

When Ren Zfengfei founded Huawei in 1988, the company was just a distributor of imported PBX products. But after accumulating knowledge and resources on PBX business, the company began to invest in R&D facilities and manufacturing its own products in the early 1990. Since then, Huawei has expanded its sales network to cover China's larger industrialized cities and foreign markets across the globe.

Today, the company dominates many sectors of the domestic market and since 2000 has enjoyed a large degree of success abroad.
