Barack Obama’s Inaugural Speech Critique

Barack Obama on January 20, 2009 gave his first inaugural speech. Although, Barack Obama is a very strong speaker every speech has its faults. And also, every critic has his own view on how a speech was given. Whether, it is a critique on style, tone, mood, or maybe the topic of the speech itself. Another’s views are always different. In Barack Obama’s first inaugural speech he goes over controversial topics and his viewpoints of where the United States is at as a country. He explains his viewpoints of what he will do as president of the United States. And lastly he explains his views on future generations and their importance. His main topic going throughout his speech is “new era of responsibility.”

Yet again, Barack Obama is a strong speaker. The president’s speech is one well thought out and well analyzed. He tried to find main points and highlighted them and emphasized them throughout the speech. The president made sure that his speech was understandable by those who were less educated and tried not to go beyond the level of vocabulary of many. His speech was thorough and on point. The president tried to reflect this speech to every person in the United States. The president aimed to please many that were against him, and also please those who were for him. For an inaugural speech his was very strong and reflected to the ideals of those who where for and against him. For an analysis this speech is quite great and the president did a great job delivering this speech.

To start off, his introduction could have been stronger. Yes, he recognized the other presidents as they all do, yes he recognized his crowd, and yes he does say thank you. But, the president goes into his own views pretty quick. The transition of this speech from the intro to first point is quite choppy. Or a fast split to the point. His points are, yes, strong.
