Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is ethically or responsible manner in voluntary behaviour which organization integrate social and environment concern in their business operations and the interaction of their stakeholders that acceptable by the society (Michael Hophins 2003). CSR can influence corporate sustainability, reputation and organization behavior. Some business likes to capture neatly the integration of financial, environment and social performance with CSR (Griffin A 2008). This is to control employees’ behavior while they are performing their job.

If the company didn’t practice CSR, such as operating without concern about the environment while focusing on profitability, they may lose reputation and facing sustainability problem in long-term business. However, if an organization were to practicing CSR, they can set rules, training and set system to ensure the operation has social and environment concern. Social and environment concern such as pollution reduction and energy saving measurement through operation process and seeking to give back to society with charity and community service.

For example, during the Sichuan earthquake in 2008, BreadTalk created a Panda Bear shaped bun and contributed full efforts including sales to the Chinese Embassy and Red Cross Society’s ‘China Earthquake Appeal Fund’ (Breadtalk Concept n.d.). This programme indirectly enhancing the company image and may leave deep impression into the heart of its customers that shows humanity and compassion which also helps to boost the sales as the customers think that they are contributing their kindness too.

This CSR event could attract employees who prefer to work with companies with similar values and this lead them to a better work attitude and greater productivity.
