Paintball: Fitness, Skills and Friendship

Paintball is a fun hobby and, despite the potential of bodily harm, an outstanding physical exercise which incorporates every muscle in the body. Paintball can encourage life skills, like teamwork, and can help strengthen camaraderie among friends, family and/or co-workers. A true sport by definition, paintball will challenge the very essence of your being. Just a few rounds of the game will send the body and mind into overdrive. It’s an addiction waiting to happen.

Being outside is great for the body; paintball is just the avenue for it. Imagine a cool crisp morning. Inhale the fresh clean air of the Midwest. Many folks struggle to get out of bed. Some are stretching for a morning run. Yet others are preparing for a day of battle. The lungs are renewed with the sensation of undisturbed oxygen rushing into the body. It’s invigorating! According to the American Meteorological Society and the American Geophysical Union, “morning mist removes a lot of airborne particles” (Demos 2005), to include pollens and pollution. Therefore, starting a day early and outside, is beneficial for the function of the body. As the day grows on, the sun peeks over the horizon with its crescendo at high noon and culminating into a restful sunset. It is said that too much sun can cause numerous skin problems but the sun does more for us than look pretty and damage our epidermis. It is essential to our bodies in producing vitamin D. This alphabetic nutrient has been linked to the reduction of such body irregularities as cancer, asthma, tuberculosis, and multiple sclerosis to name a few. All this from just 15 minutes a day (Doughton 2008). Although there are many indoor paintball fields, a large majority are outside. Players can’t help but absorb the health values of this totally awesome outdoor sport.
