In this assignment, the writer introduces to a University Lecturer a critique on some important aspects of the book that is entitled “Effective Biblical Counseling” A model for helping caring Christians Become Capable Counselors, by Dr. Larry Crabb, Jr. In this assignment, the writer will also discuss in detail the different integrative approaches in Christian counseling and give a personal analysis. In the Critique, the writer will address his personal thought and opinions by providing feedback on these areas of the book: Christian maturity, the separate but equal integrative approach to counseling, the toss salad, the nutting buttery, and the spoiling Egyptians.

The Critique on the four integrative approaches to counseling

Demonstration of Understanding

In chapter one, Crabb introduces to the reader about the purpose of Christian maturity and the reasons for Christian counseling. Overall, it introduces therapist to a more affluent understanding how Christians can be more effective with the services that they provide and why we should worship God. In an extensive way of introducing an integrative approach to counseling, Crabb explains how Christian maturity can strengthen a person’s character, beliefs, attitudes and makes clients more aware of his or her purpose in life. Chapter 1 also addresses justification, which means that we all have a charge for sin, but Jesus dropped charges by the shedding of His blood and acquitted us of the charge of sin.

Crabb also addressed obedience because lack of obedience can play a role in why our clients cannot improve sometimes while they are in a crisis.
