Assignment 2: Learning Styles

If I was asked to explain what is meant by “learning style” to a fellow classmate, I would describe it as a method in which one is able to most efficiently learn and comprehend information. Learning styles are very important for students to understand, especially at the college and university level due to the amount of information that can be thrown at students from different classes in a small amount of time. By them understanding what a learning style is they can figure out which method better works for them and use it to excel in their college classes.

Prior to this discussion I really hadn’t given much thought to how I learned. I have always been an intense note taker, but that was primarily just for me to be able to do quick reviews prior to tests and quizzes. I just knew that if I read the chapter over and over again that the information would eventually sink in and begin to make sense.

After completing the LEAD, I discovered that I am more capable of learning and comprehending information that is auditory. I believe that this is accurate due to me being able to comprehend and remember more information from my reading if I read out loud to myself. Also if I hear a teacher talking out the steps of a math problem I am more likely to grab another math problem and follow the same steps that they had outlined and complete the problem because their words would be echoing through my head as I was working it out.

This types of learning would probably be most beneficial in a face-to-face classroom due to the fact that that I would be able to hear and record the professors lectures and other pertinent information that they would speak.
