This hospital became a teaching hospital for the University of Missouri, Kansas City Medical School. Truman Medical Center has a total of 52 beds and is a level one trauma center. The medical staff treats critical care and trauma injuries (trumed.org, 2012). The trauma team has emergency doctors, surgeons, radiology staff and trauma nurses. Truman Medical Center has physicians in neurosurgery and gynecology on standby in case they are needed, as well as nurses in the operating room and critical care (trumed.org, 2012).
