The Study of Organizational Management

WORKSHOP ACTIVITY 1: (Assignment). Write as many reasons as you can why you need to know and appreciate the various theories discussed in Part 2.

In answering this question, before I started to state all the reasons that I found through a thorough research, I will begin with the reasons in slide no 7 which Miss Maru has e-mailed to us:

1. To replace our intuitive theories of organization with ones that have been derived scientifically and systematically.

2. To understand the phenomenon to achieve a modicum of success in life.

3. Prepare eventual assumption to management & leadership.

4. To pass this course.

Now, here are my findings from various sources:

1. For an organization to identify how they would solve problems, and how they maximize efficiency and productivity.

2. Correctly applying organizational theory can have several benefits for both the organization and society at large. Developments in organizations help boost economic potential in a society and help generate the tools necessary to fuel its capitalistic nature.

3. Organizational theory can also help identify malicious forms of corporate practice and use them to highlight future precautionary measures.

4. In order for the managers to comprehend, apply, and build upon a wide array of organizational decisions.

5. Understanding the theories of others and how they developed them will allow for functional applications by focusing on continuous improvement of theory and applications.

6. Organization theory requires both the mastery of existing theories and personal development of the methods and skills of theorizing.

7. To understand the variety of methodologies which provide the framework for organizational practice. (David Crowther, Miriam Green, 2004)
