Considering that Hinduism lacks a uniting belief system, I will discover and discuss what makes up the Hindu religion. I will also explain what cultural and societal influences have made Hinduism vital to where it was originated. Furthermore, this essay will also explain the answers for the desire for liberation from earthly existence.

For hundreds of years, the Indian subcontinent has categorized many religious ways into one tradition known as Hinduism. The term “Hinduism” was given to people regional to the Indus River and dates back to the nineteenth century. Hinduism is one of the oldest and most complex religions in the world because it allows for multiple religious faith, customs, diverse forms of rituals and worship to develop a harmonious relationship with one another. Unlike Islam or Christianity, Hinduism does not have a single belief system, or a central religious organization; it do not have a single prophet/messianic founder, or a single system of law or morality. Despite this, Hinduism has become the world’s third largest religion following Christianity and then Islam. Hinduism claims about 837 million followers which is approximately 13% of the world’s population (Knott, 2000). Hinduism, also known as Sanatana Dharma, is thought to be over 3000 years old (Fisher, 2005). Sanatana means ageless and believes in the way that have already exists. Dharma, on the other hand is know to be the good of all and corresponds to the order in the Cosmo. Karma is also a large part of Hinduism. Karma is the belief that everything that we do, think, and feel will determine our future experiences. In addition to karma, reincarnation which is the belief that the soul is reborn again and again in one form or another is also important to Hinduism.
