At Sandwich Blitz, Jenny noticed what appeared to be a discrepancy in the time sheet of one of the customer associates. When she asked the unit manager about this, she learned that the crew supervisor had allowed the associate to “swap out” work hours against the next time period. After checking the employee handbook which had been in effect since she and Jack were actively managing the units, she discovered that this practice was not covered. She also realized that many of the duties that employees were expected to do and be evaluated on were also not clearly addressed in the employee handbook.

Control is any process that directs the activities of individuals toward the achievement of organizational goals.

Refer to the unit readings, and in your best judgment based on the readings, do you think that a control system needs to be developed to address these issues? Why or why no

Control is one of the fundamental forces that keep the organization together and heading in the right direction’ (Bateman& Snell, 2009).I believe the best thing in this situation is to apply control systems at Sandwich Blitz, Inc in order to deal with the problem. Jack and Jenny should use bureaucratic control systems to avoid any further performance issues. They really need to start by having a meeting where it should be announced that employee handbooks will be updated in order to address all the problems they have come across lately. Jack and Jenny should also be opened minded to any suggestions made by employees and incorporate in the new employee guide book. The new handbooks are to be signed by all employees. From now on the new set of rules needs to be enforced at all locations by all managers and supervisors, So if something like that is to happen again it would be punished according to the Sandwich Blitz, Inc’ policies.
