Human resource management is the process of managing human talent to achieve an organizations objective. The HRM department deals with various responsibilities: planning, recruiting, staffing, benefits, and training to name a few.

Human resource management has many challenges from diversity of people and cultures, globalization, and information technology. In order for a company to strive they must understand that change is constant and vital for the survival of the company.

HR managers must be aware that diversity is increasing steadily. They need to understand the different cultures and what will be the best route to take to better the company and benefit employees. Globalization has bridged that gap, it helps expand information technology. Information technology is a way to communicate between companies, employees, and consumers. Communication is the most important way to keep upper management employees and lower level employees up to date and informed. HR communicates changes such as rules, regulations, future plans, and issues that affect employees directly. HR managers have a very difficult and demanding position, but knowing your job and responsibilities, remembering change is constant, and communication s the most important key will make their job easier.

For the most part HR doesn’t have much to do with my job, but I do consult them on issues I may have with an employee. As a supervisor I interact with HR for such things as staffing and training development. There was a time during the summer that our work load got extremely heavy and we didn’t have enough employees to cover all the labor hours. I proposed that we do a temporary hire, just to cover the hours of need. There was a time that when promotions were in effect and I had to choose three employees to get a promotion become a part of a special department. That was one of the hardest management decisions that I had to make. I have a close friend that works in the H department and she says that I...
