Demonstrative Communication Paper

Communication is the outline of the process of giving and sending information, a procedure in which information is traded between individuals through a system of behavior, reading, writing, speech and signs (Sperber, Wilson 1996). Communication is verbal, nonverbal, visual and written. There main areas and their corresponding groups make up a majority of nonverbal communication. The body shows the physical space, the individuals clothing and appearance; physiology, posture, gesture of the person; nonverbal, facial expressions and contact.

Studies have shown that a nonverbal characteristic of communication are frequently the most important when compared to words that have been spoken (Prelli 2006) Demonstrative communication is a component to processing nonverbal and unvoiced communication. Demonstrative communication involves the receiving and sending wordless piece of information (Wortmann, Becker 2009)

Effective communication is the basis of a positive communication in the work environment together with social situations. Sharing ideas, opinions, and an individual must possess effective nonverbal and verbal communication skills. The skills are largely important for the sender and the receiver. In the book “Rhetoric’s of Display” by Lawrence Prelli Communication can be made out and has shown to start at an early age, interpretation becomes more precise as the individual becomes older into becoming an adult. At times when the message is correct without any errors, the other individual can become confused (Prelli 2006). An example would be when one individual walks up to another individual giving a grin with straight eye contact, lending out a hand shake and with a certain tone saying “good morning, how have you been?” the other individual will likely reply with the same question.
