1 Introduction

In this ever changing world, mobile phone had become a important part in our life. Research show that in 27 million Malaysians, 90 percent of them subscribe to mobile phone services (Karimuddin, 2008). 90 percent of Malaysia total population own a mobile phone. However, there are so many types of the mobile phones in the market with different functions. This research is to identify the factors that influence Malaysia consumers in mobile phone choice decision.

2 Literature Review

Mobile phones have become an essential communication tools and integrated part for everyone across the globe. By the end of 2007, there were approximately 3.3 billion mobile phone users worldwide and continuing to grow rapidly. (International Telecommunication Union, 2008). Srivastava (2005) stated that the purpose for mobile phone purchasing is because it has shifted from being a ‘technological object’ to a key ‘social object’ as communication with others.

Demographic

Demographic variables are based on, gender, income, class and employment (Johansson, Douglas and Nonaka, 1985). Demographic variables play an important role in influencing the selection of mobile phones amongst people belonging to different demographic groups. According to a research done by Wilska (2002), found that mobile handset choice was consistent with their general consumption patterns for young people between the ages of 16-20 in Finland. The studied explained that male respondents preferred more advanced handsets and they want it to be trendy as well while females respondent exhibited impulsive consumption patterns and they also want trendy handsets.
