Brief Description

The Self Help Group Assessment is a participatory assessment tool developed by the Project in 2005 for purpose of assessing the relative performance and level of organizational capacities of the local based institutions, specifically Self-Help Groups, of the target sectors in the areas covered by NMCIREMP. The tool has 3 major parameters and 18 indicators that describe or determine the status and performance of the Self Help Groups in terms of organizational capacity, financial capacity, and managerial capacity. The design of the assessment tool was taken from the 18 point matrix, SHG evaluation criteria, p24-27, Appendix 1-working paper II of the Post Appraisal Report for the Project as contained in the Project Implementation Manual. 18. External audits The rating scale used in processing the result of the assessment is indicated in the SHG Facilitators Guide. The rating scale in categorizing SHG maturity is as follows: Adjectival rating GOOD AVERAGE POOR VERY POOR Numerical equivalent 4 3 2 1
