The use of Internet activities has increased in recent years. More companies are allowed access to them through their websites. McDonald’s uses their website to allow consumers access to nutritional menus, receive feedback, and entertain children.

Employees are allowed to bring laptops to the workplace at their own risk. Employees are allowed to use the restaurants free wi-fi during their breaks and off their shifts. Employees are forbidden to have access to the restaurants office in which the main computer is kept.

The main computer is only accessible by management. The main computer has to have a pass code entered to be activated and used. The code is changed once a month randomly. Management is given one code that is different from another code. The code is then randomly changed from month to month. The main CPU has information of all the employees and management. All sensitive information is only accessible by very few management. A log tracks who has accessed the computer and at what time.

The author believes that proper security has been implemented to keep employee information safe. The company also has implemented several features to keep consumers information safe. Information collected by the company will only be shared internally with other members of the McDonald’s family. The company also states information is not sold to third parties. The company neither does sell the information collected.

All medical and background information including addresses and contact numbers are stored in the main CPU. Only code managers are given access to this sensitive information. There are employee jackets that contact information that include contact numbers and addresses. This information is stored in a filing cabinet in front of the office. The office has cameras installed inside and outside directed toward the filing cabinet. Employees are not allowed to access the cabinet. Many times the cabinet is locked and only certain management has the key.
