Traditional telephone systems are a thing of the past. In today’s business world, VoIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol is the wave of the future. There are many benefits of switching to VoIP systems including lowered costs and increased customer revenue. VoIP services also allow for better telecommuting opportunities, which are needed for business models these days. An example of the success of VoIP integration can be seen in the case study of Tabarka Studio, a high-end buildings materials manufacturer. The case study examined the transition from a legacy system phone service to a multi-line VoIP solution.

With Tabarka Studio’s legacy system, only two employees could be on the phone at the same time, which caused incoming calls to be met with a busy tone. This caused money to be lost due to missed sales opportunities. Nextiva offered a solution that could solve all of these issues and provide an excellent new service. Nextiva’s solution was a multi-line VoIP system that integrated a virtual PBX for routing calls to their correct destination. The switch to the new system also lowered phone costs by 60 percent according to the study. VoIP systems were also an advantage for Tabarka Studio because it allowed for toll free numbers to be used which was beneficial for their international clients. One of the biggest benefits of VoIP for Tabarka Studio was the addition of voicemail that could be sent to specific employees with the help of a virtual PBX. Not only is this more convenient but it also provides a more professional look and feel. Voicemails could also be received in the form of an email, which is great for employees who were out of the office. This is essential for telecommuting employees who are frequently out in the field.
