Kudler Fine Foods Authentication Process

Employees who have access to the Kudler Fine Foods Frequent Shopper Program should have strong authentication process set up to verify users who have access to sensitive parts of the system that stores people’s personal identifiable information ("Kudler Fine Foods", 2012). The authentication process verifies the people trying to gain access to the system, by ensuring the person is who they say they are (Whitman & Mattord, Chapter 10, 2010). There are a number of ways a system can verify a person is able to gain access to the organizations network or system. This can be done by the employee knowing their user name and password; carrying a smart card or cryptographic tokens; system using a biometric scanner to scan fingerprints or a retina; using a voice recognition to identify the person or signature pattern recognition (SkillSoft, 2012). The use of strong authentication, which is the use of a minimum of two authentication mechanisms, is a great way to increase security to verify an authorized person network access (Conklin, White, Williams, Davis, & Cothren, Chapter 4, 2012).
