Many of us desire to be successful in our personal lives as well as accomplish goals that have been set for us; in order for this to be attained you have to have personal responsibility. To me personal responsibility is taking ownership for my actions, knowing that consequences exist for any and all actions taken, and that my actions not only affect me but sometimes others around me.

The direct relationship between personal responsibility and college success is simple, the more responsible you are for yourself and your actions will determine how successful your college career will be. Being responsible for your assignments, establishing good grades and making a name for yourself will all lead to success at the college level and beyond. In order to be sure that my success continues I need to keep my head up and stay motivated to complete my degree, which will result to bigger and better things in the future. There are many students that just do not have the self motivation and discipline to be successful and don’t make it through to the end. In order to make sure that I do not fall into that group of students I have set out a plan for myself.

My preliminary to practice personal responsibility in my college education includes keeping a positive outlook when it comes to completing my college degree, staying motivated to be successful and make not only myself proud but my family as well. Time management is another big part of my plan to be successful. In order to be sure that I do not fall behind I keep a planner that helps me stay on track knowing what is due when and making sure I have my priorities straight. To me time management plays a huge role in being successful in not only college but your personal life as well. Unlike being in high school where your teachers are on you about getting assignments in on time, college it is all up to you on whether or not you will get your assignments in on time.
