1. Why Daniel is’ sensitive to DSI’s recruitment efforts?

Daniel is sensitive to DSI recruitment efforts due to the major completion recruitment of 1000 engineers where an unexpected market failure had left DSI with a dilemma. Key choices prove to be a significant factor of DSI survival in the business where DSI now facing two major problems which are persevering as many jobs available until the business picks up or to terminate the new recruits which could harm DSI future recruitment efforts. Although laying-off the new hires could improve the accounts of the business but they also face the consequences of tarnishing their corporate image and employee loyalty & trust to the DSI management.

2. What are some potential problems for current class of engineers recruited at DSI?

Some potential problems that can arise for the current class of engineers are:

* Fierce competition

Since DSI recruited over 1000 engineers, competition between the newly hired will arise as they try to impress their new employees with their knowledge and skills. Furthermore with the market status currently slowing down, the engineers are competing with each other in order not to get terminate for low performance.

* Slow market growth

As the market for semi-conductors had failed to pick up, low self-esteem and morale can arise as the engineers are underutilise by the company. As demand for the technology is at bottom level, DSI will not manufacture the goods as it will be a waste since there is no demand for it. In other words, the knowledge of the engineers are not required hence making them feel demotivate to work.

3. How could the use of temporaries, student interns, or sub-contractors potentially help DSI?
