Communication is a key element in businesses and organizations. Good communication keeps employees all on the same page and customers wanting more of the offered product or service. Over the years, communication has evolved from paperback prints to the now digitally formatted documents and media. The evolution of communication technology has drastically enhanced the way businesses and organizations are operated. These enhancements benefit both the companies and customers.

Working in the office of a battery manufacturer in the broadcast and film industry called IDX System Technology has demonstrated various communication technologies. Over the years, the office has adapted to new communication technologies as they became available. Despite the small number of office workers, IDX has been a successful company due to the use of good communication technologies.

The telephone has played a key role at IDX for communicating information to dealers, distributors, vendors and as well as end-users. Beyond office LAN lines, cell phone technology has taken telecommunications to the next level. The cell phone allows the salesman to travel and still be in touch to relay valuable information back to the office or to a client. Cell phones can also act as a note pad by text messaging. Text messaging is a great way to relay information when the receiver does not have a pencil and paper handy. The texts can also be saved for future use or for back up information. Various new cells phones are now called smart phones because they inherit computer like technology. Smart phones have email capabilities and have helped IDX offer instant customer service. Customers often email inquires about products, technical information, and return merchandise authorizations for product repair. These...
