Brazil and Turkey make Nuclear trade
The United Nations stood in protest when they heard of the energy trade made between Brazil, Turkey, and Iran. There was very little thought put into the decision to make the deal because Iran has a strong history of lying about its nuclear intentions. Can we be sure that if the deal goes through they will use the nuclear fuel as they are supposed to or will they continue their top secret work to enrich it to a high enough grade to use in a nuclear bomb? Some countries are very angry over the deal because this spells out an uncertain future for them if Iran can possibly make a nuclear bomb. Before the deal has even gone through, there are already talks of embargos and sanctions on Iran if the deal is not stopped. Even though Brazil is in support of the deal as they are looking at from an economical in betterment stand point., there was little thought put into the decision to go through with the nuclear fuels deal because it has caused war time actions between two previously friendly countries (Turkey and Israel), and It has caused Russia and Germany to impose more sanctions and embargos on Iran.
In an article written in a Iran newspaper we found out the following information. On May 17th Brazil, Turkey and Iran, signed the Tehran fuel swap agreement (Tehran declaration) which agreed that Iran was to send 1200 kg of low grade uranium to turkey in exchange for 120 kg of high grade uranium. The article states that the purpose of the uranium would be to be used in the powering of a generator that is used for cancer research. President Lula the president of Brazil in a phone call with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (of Iran) said that he would hold talks with other countries to win the approval and popularity for the declaration.
