With the new merger between InterClean and EnviroTech, there has definitely been a competitive advantage in the cleaning and sanitation industry of the newly formed company. InterClean has been very lucrative over the last few months. This new influx is reflective of the sales team and how successful they have been in selling the products and services of InterClean. The sales team has been very successful at helping accomplishing the vision that InterClean has set for itself. With a newly formed skilled sales force, there is no doubt that InterClean is carving a distinctive path in the cleaning and sanitation industry. It will be imperative that with such a great sales team formed from leaders in InterClean before the merger, training and mentoring should be implemented.

This will be a primary focus for the organization because training and mentoring will only develop and hone skills of employees, which will only continue to give the organization a competitive advantage in the industry. The training and mentoring program will only be effective as long as there is an astronomical amount of research that goes into. “The purpose of the assessment phase is to define what it is the employee should learn in relation to desired job behaviors. If this phase is not carefully done, the training program as a whole will have little chance of achieving what it is intended to do”(Cascio, 2005, p.293). Management wants to be sure that with such a program, that it will truly make a difference and create more leaders within InterClean. Before a program like this will be implemented, there will be a great deal of planning that will occur. Management will first be determining the current needs of the training and mentoring. They will also determine their objectives of the said program. There will also be an outline of the performance standards that will be in place.
