Introduction

In Medical logistics we provided equipment, materiel, services and information to the medical mission. Provide outstanding medical materiel and services support to using activities with an economical investment in inventory and maintaining War Reserve Material (WRM) which supports the capability of a medical unit to function effectively in a contingency situation. Medical logisticians work at all points in the supply chain, at the strategic level interfacing with manufacturers, at the operational level integrating medical logistics to ensure adequate materiel and equipment are available for deployment and sustainment, and at the tactical level distributing materiel to the health care providers (Learn 2013).

How does information flow in your organization?

In medical supply the information flows both up and down the organization electronically through Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support system (DMLSS). Supply involves operations that include identifying requirements, selecting supply sources, scheduling deliveries, receiving, verifying and transferring product, inspection and acceptance, and authorizing supplier payments.

The information flows down from the custodians who input their request into DMLSS which is a integrated common system service, which has six functions Customer Area Inventory management which allows for replenishment and wireless processing, Assemblage management which allows us to update readiness tools, Stock Room Inventory Management which is physical inventory, external customer support and quality assurance, Facility Management which allows computer aided drawings and facility inventory, Equipment and Technology Management which is the management of equipment and it’s life cycle, and Customer Support on the web, is a web-based interface to DMLSS that provides the user the capability to research,...
