Abstract
In the 2001 one article by Hax and Maljuf, they list the eight most common symptoms of organizational structure. These symptoms are inadequate symptoms that cause companies to do not so well in their business. Out of the eight inadequate symptoms, there were two that stood out the most. One of the symptoms that stood out was the lack of cooperation amongst divisions. The second inadequate symptom is the lack of opportunities for general managers. There were several other symptoms but these two are common in a lot of industries.
I’ve worked for a few different companies, some large and some small, and I’ve seen different types of people and industries, successful and not. I’ve had several friends that have worked for LA Fitness. I didn’t realize how competitive the jobs were that they offer at the gym. It’s such a competitive field for instructors; whether they’re teaching cycling, yoga, dance fitness classes, etc. All of the instructors try to compete with one another for clients instead of trying to cooperate with one another. The different divisions at LA Fitness are different and lack the consideration from those involved.
I’ve worked for the Arizona Republic, and the different divisions in the company were constantly not cooperating with one another. I’ve seen employees throw one another under the bus and try to get each other in trouble for little things. Companies will eventually foil if their divisions aren’t cooperating with one another. Eventually, the inbound call center, in which I worked, was moved out of state because employees were constantly not getting along and they had to cut cost in that department.
