Religious and Ethnic Groups

Christianity has many groups integrated into it and has many different ways different

from other religions. I have been a Baptist all my life and me visiting catholic churches

seem to be the same with my religion but little less gospel preaching. Roman Catholic

people believe in a lot of different things. They believe in worshiping the Virgin Mary and

that you have to pray for her to get to God. When Baptist, they believe you pray to

Jesus to get to God. Catholic people also believe there is 3 spirits. The father the son

and the Holy Spirit which Baptist believes they are all in one. The way the Catholic

priests run their church is different from Baptist. Every Saturday in the Catholic Church

members go to confession and tell their priest their sins. When in Baptist they don't

believe you need to tell a living man your sins that you have to ask God forgiveness. On

every Sunday in the Catholic Church members take part of communion which is take a

piece of dead and saying it is the body of Christ and taking a sip of wine that is the

blood of Christ. In Baptist Church the members take part in communion once a month

and that’s something I didn’t know that other religions don’t do but say the same as the

Catholics do. Things I can gather from asking my elders on what Catholics brought to

the American culture is immigration. Many believe that they brought over different

Catholic races and populated the country.

In the early days Roman Catholic Church struggled to maintain traditional religious

and political role. They faced rising secular powers in Europe. When they were

struggling, they would rose up hostile attitudes to political, social, spiritual and religious

power of the Pope. It would add the epochal crisis over the church's spiritual authority

which was brought by the protestant. As time goes by the Roman Catholic Church
