Happy Customer = Successful Business

The Hoosier Burger is a small business that currently is searching for an efficient way to keep up with the daily transactions of the business. The new owners have just finished up product identification and are currently testing out their system to get a feel for what works and what does not. With a solid approach to identification and selection, scope definition, examination of feasibility factors and the development of a project scope statement this project will be well on the way towards an efficient execution.  

Small businesses seem to go through a period of growing pains. These growing pains usually lead to the business identifying certain things they want to change in daily operations. This is exactly how the project for Hoosier Burger was identified. In daily operations Bob and Thelma discovered issues in inventory control, customer ordering and management reporting and would like to fix them because the mistakes are having a negative affect on the success of their business. Issues such as food shortages, customer wait time and a general lack of ability to run the business smoothly are having a minimal affect on the business now but could affect their success in the future. Managing their business by hand is becoming outdated as their business continues to grow.

Project selection will be a breeze in this case. There are no pending projects and the system simply needs to be upgraded to accommodate the needs of the business. In larger firms, there are usually multiple teams competing for limited resources so projects are often evaluated based on cost benefit analysis. It is done this way to gauge the feasibility of the project but in this case there is a pretty simple answer.
