CASE STUDY : ROB THOMAS : MANAGING PUBLIC IMAGE

Introduction

Rob Thomas works as a Managing Director at the Braid group, Chicago based management consulting firm with branch offices in New York & Los Angeles office. He is personally committed to the issue of workforce diversification and firmly believes that bringing workforce diversity at The Braid Group could be a possible way of attracting non-traditional clients He saw this as opportunity to make a difference, especially in diversifying area both at associate levels & partner level.

He was a proven great leader. He has been sensitive to the lack of diversity at the Braid group. As managing director Rob believes he should work towards rectifying this situation. Rob examined his values & thought about what he wanted his legacy at the office to be. He wanted to have greater diversity to be listed among his contributions at retirement.

He desires for the firm’s business to grow high, internal well-being & improving public relations He is sure that he will be successful in stockpiling support from most of the senior partners in achieving this objective.

Rob is optimistic of firm’s president and several directors on the board would be very supportive to efforts to diversify, as would the head of Human Resources and other key administrators. Despite the fact that his company had done well under him but so far he had been unsuccessful in furthering his goals.

Background

Thomas, respected for his consistent success in attracting new clients and for his management style, in 1999, after 18 years at Baird, he was appointed to head the Chicago firm’s office. Thomas, a Caucasian male in his mid-50s had always been sensitive to the inadequacy of diversity at his firm, especially relative to larger & more prominent consulting firms.
