Personality Reflection

Using the textbook, the University Library, the Internet, and/or other resources, answer the following questions.

1. How would you define personality?

Are we of funny or serious nature? Are we shy or outspoken? The list can go on and on. These are some of what shape us as human beings. The Definition of Personality is the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual’s distinctive character. These answers to the questions are the character of our personalities.

2. What are some key personality features that define you?

I am funny and kind hearted. I like to be in big groups and do activities that involve other people but if I am not center of attention then I bore easily.

3. What key concepts or “constructs” are used to explain your personality?

Personality consists of "traits", which are individual differences that are stable over time. The Myers Briggs Type Inventory is the most common personality test. It rates the level to which you are an Extraverted vs. Introverted, Intuitive vs. Sensing, Thinking vs. Feeling, and Judging vs. Process (which means preferring closure, or keeping your options open).

4. Are your personality features consistent or do they change according to the situation?

My personality features are consistent no matter what the situation I am up to because this identifies who I truly am.

5. Have you ever taken a personality test before? If so, what was your reaction to the analysis? If not, what would you expect a proper test to measure?

I have taken the Myers Briggs Test before for work. I found the analysis to be similar to how I saw myself as a person. There was some finding that after reading them I could see how it related to me.

6. What would make a personality test reliable and valid?

A personality test is based on the individual. If the...
