Role of a Manager

Great managers can make or break a business. They are the person that is called upon for new ideas, problem solving, and decision-making. Successful managers create a great workplace which allows employees to engaged their personal strengths and build upon their weaknesses. A business cannot run with only a manager but with a supportive team behind them. Managers must find out what the employees expect of them as a manager so that he or she can gain a better understanding of what is takes to motivate his or her team. The manager must function and lead his or her team to success by implementing a vision, mentoring each invested employee, and exercising his or her decision-making skills.

Implement the Vision

One of the manager’s responsibilities is to inform the employees of the organization’s vision and to give them the tools needed to achieve the organizational goals. Managers are much like coaches by offering support, guidance, and the tools needed to be successful. Managers provide the knowledge necessary to complete each task, getting the organization closer to their goals. Successful organizations have a clear and concise vision statement that holds true to value and paints a visual picture of the business; it is the manager duty to convey this picture over to his or her employees. The manager must communicate and commit to this vision; creating a vision board in a commonly used area can assist. Just communicating a vision is not enough. A success manager commits to the vision and makes sure that the employees share the same vision. This allows the employees to understand that the manager is invested into his or her employees.

Mentoring
