YMCA After-School Program

Executive Summary

In almost every community there are YMCA’s that offer several different programs. The child care program offered by the YMCA has been in existence for years. This program is being evaluated to see if it is an effective place to enroll children for child care. The mission of the program is to encourage young minds to grow, explore, and appreciate the world in which we live, in doing so with the children of this program they will become active in learning, studying and doing physical activities daily. The program has 200 children currently enrolled and doing physical activities daily. While the YMCA has a broad abundance of goals, two that stand out the most are to develop capacities for leadership and use them responsibly in their own group and in their community life, and the other would be to develop self-confidence, self-respect, and an appreciation for their own worth as individuals. Based on this information there were three assessment questions developed by the evaluator.

The findings of this evaluation from the surveys used shows that the YMCA’s child care program is an effective program. The parents of the children that are enrolled in this program are more than satisfied with everything about it. There were no negative results found during the collection of the responses to the surveys. The recommendation of the evaluator is to give more surveys out to the parents of the program to see where the program stands with the parents. The surveys will no longer be on the spot, but will have a little notice so that the parents can be prepared to take the survey. Another recommendation of the YMCA’s they will try and recruit new members by going into the community offering discounts for a week. The catch would be at the end of the discounted week they will have to answer surveys given from the evaluator to gain knowledge of what the parents of the children are...
