The five major religions in Singapore differ in many aspects, in terms of its organisation and the belief system each upholds. In addition, other differences like their belief in their higher power, history of how their world and religion began and also the use of sacred texts and objects.

Hinduism’s view of the meaning in life revolves around the concept of reincarnation, where organisms continue in eternal cycles of birth then death and rebirth till nirvana is realised. The caste system is dependent on how well the person executes their role in the current life, which will determine the person’s next position in the next incarnation. Hindus also acknowledges the present of divine soul is present in all living things. The caste system is not enforced in Singapore, for example, everyone and anyone is able to visit any Hindu temple, regardless of caste position or religion. It’s teaching where Karma “Every action and reaction are opposite and equal” and Dharma are very much main important themes. Thus, these teaching enforce peace, patience and promote harmonious living among religion in Singapore.

Buddhism teachings and principals about life can be summarized in the four Noble truths: 1) life is suffering, 2) suffering arses is caused by desire, 3) suffering and misery can cease when attachment to desire ceases and 4) to remove suffering is possible by following the Eight fold path. Buddhist often draws on the story of Buddha that there is a way to end all suffering and attain happiness. The Eight-fold paths or ‘middle way’ is the centre of Buddhist view and thoughts where Buddhism encourages people to live in the present, importance of personal responsibility...
