Assignment 1: Excel Project

In order to complete the Excel assignment, research had to be compiled in order to complete the task of monitoring and tracking five specific stocks for the 120-day period. After researching several options to collect data regarding SAP AG (SAP), Oracle (ORCL), Microsoft (MSFT), Peachtree (SGE.L), and QuickBooks (INTU), I chose to use YAHOO! Finance to obtain the stock information to complete the Excel assignment. I selected this source because it was very user-friendly. It allowed me to look up the stock that I was researching and easily obtain historical prices on each of the five stocks. Not only that, but the YAHOO! Finance site automatically transferred the information into an Excel Spreadsheet. This feature helped reduce time and effort when inputting the data needed to format the spreadsheet that was being created. In addition to being easy to use and navigate, the site also gave additional information about the company, such as its history, the company profile and analyst opinions. These features provided in YAHOO! Finance helped with the research portion of this assignment to allow for a starting place to get more background information on the companies and the accounting systems they provide. Detailed below are the five accounting system stocks that were researched for this assignment.
