COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A course that focuses on both the science of project management and the art of managing projects and provides a comprehensive, integrative understanding of the project management process. Major topics include defining the project, developing a network plan, managing risk, reducing project time, scheduling resources, managing project teams, progress and performance measurement and evaluation, closing projects, and professional and social responsibility.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. To master project management tools and techniques and the dynamics of team development and interpersonal problem solving.
2. To understand the critical dimensions of project scope, time, and resource allocation.
3. To explore a variety of ‘best practices’ including anticipating, preventing, and overcoming barriers to project success.
4. To more fully understand the policies and systems used by participants’ organizations to develop and control projects.
