Corrections have been in existent throughout the world for many years and are constant
changing and evolving in the United States. Which reflects the values and standards of the
public throughout the centuries. In the criminal justice system, corrections exist in more than one
structure. Corrections can refer to jails and prison facilities but they also are relevant to
Community-based programs, such as probation and parole as well as treatment facilities. The past,
present, and future trends in respect to the development and operation of institutional and
community-based corrections differ when involving other states. Corrections have matured
hugely since the early 1800s and have continued to get bigger over time. Corrections are
unwavering to continue to spread out into the future because criminal activity is not decreasing
as society would like. This paper will discuss research of past, present, and future trends in the
development and operation of corrections. In various ways corrections are comparable to the
operation trends of 20 years ago. However, the development of corrections has also came further
when it is judged against corrections in the launching phase. Furthermore, this paper will consist
of current and future issues for prisons and prison administrators. Moreover, it will explain the
reason these problems capitulate corrections. The last area to discuss is the role of alternate
corrections as a developing trend.
