The Importance of Customer Service

In order for a business to remain healthy or even become healthy they have to understand the importance of customer service. Most businesses are often successful because they know the importance of creating new customer, keeping loyal customers and developing referrals for future customer because they practice good customer service (Keys to Operating a Successful Business).

Excellent customer service begins as soon as the customer is greeted the correct way, whether it’s in person or on the phone, first impressions are very important (Keys to Operating a Successful Business). Customers often remember that first contact they have with the worker rather is good or bad. Good customer service does not stop at just greeting the person it also includes how much of a help you were when it came to satisfying the customer needs. Customers like when you’re able to help them find a product that better suits their needs, just because they are looking for a specific product doesn’t mean that one will do the job. Always suggest a better product even if it may cost a little more, I’m sure the customer may think twice.

Being able to get personal with the customer is also important, you always want to be able to relate to the customer, it often helps to remind them that you are human too and you know where they are coming from. I myself enjoy letting a customer know a little bit about myself it helps them to open up and to become more comfortable around you. I feel that customers are always looking for a “friend”, when they come into your workplace they will come directly to you because they know that you will take care of their needs like their outside friends do. Being friendly and showing concern can help keep those customers coming back and also bring you more business. That is why customer service is a very important aspect of a business because customers never forget first impressions.
