Outline

Introduction:

a. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD as it is frequently referred to is a vastly misunderstood disorder usually diagnosed in childhood.

b. Parents whose children have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder often do not understand the disorder fully and seek to find what exactly is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is, what are the symptoms and what can they do to help their child.

What are the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD as it is generally referred to.

a. One of the most common symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder would be if the child is having a difficult time focusing or paying attention.

b. A few examples of this inattentiveness or difficulty focusing would be if the child appears to be daydreaming,if the child is seeming to have a hard time focusing on getting a task or school assignment started or completed frequently, or not appearing to be listening when they are being spoken to more frequently than their peers.

c. Another symptom of ADHD in a child is excessive forgetfulness this would be more then normally seen in a child of their age group.

d. Excessive forgetfulness would be if the child continuously forgets their homework or daily tasks and chores.

e. Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder usually are continuously in motion, they tend to be fidgety, they are impatient and do not play as quietly as most children.

f. ADHD children tend to be extremely talkative, they interrupt others, and often speak and act before they can think or process what they are doing.
