ASSIGNMENT:

On December 05th at around 1200 hours, I reluctantly accepted an invitation to attend the New Harry Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows I”. I was informed that the movie would be playing at the Maui Mall Megaplex, which is located off of 70 East Kaauhumanu Avenue, within the Hollywood Theaters cinema.

ARRIVAL:

On 12/5/10 at around 1330 hours, I arrived to the Hollywood Theaters and purchased two senior citizen tickets to attend the 1345 showing of Harry Potter from the kiosk machine. My plan was to walk with a limp and to speak in a tone that was significantly older than my own so as to create the illusion that I was in fact a senior citizen. The reasoning for this can only be explained by the $2.00 difference for senior citizen pricing vice regular adult pricing, and my plan worked. (I know I’m not the only one who does this)

SCENE:

Hollywood Theaters Cinema is a single story concrete structure used as a private business that is open and accessible to the public from Kaauhumanu Avenue. The walls are decorated with upcoming movie advertisement posters and the inside reeks of over-priced popcorn. The concession stand sells junk food items at prices that would make an oil mogul cringe. The cheese that comes with the $8.00 nachos is questionable at best. The west-facing hallway that provides access to the theater that would be showcasing the 1345 showing of Harry POTTER is draped with a paint job that could only be inspired from long term and excessive LSD usage. It is safe to say that the interior design of the Hollywood Theaters would give a small child nightmares, or cause an unsuspecting hippy to have a really bad acid trip.
