Business Research Applications Paper

Business research can be one of the foremost and imperative aspects that can provide influence for decision makers of businesses. Research can drive decision-making in organizations. This business research applications paper will discuss how research is used in my current organization and an organization I am familiar with and how it can be used more effectively. It will discuss in detail current research and the areas in which I think more research is needed.

Business research is a systematic inquiry that provides information to guide managerial decisions. It is a process of planning, acquiring, analyzing, and disseminating relevant data (Cooper & Schindler, p. 4, 2011). Currently, I work for a nonprofit organization. It is also a visitor’s center for the area and a state of Arizona visitor’s center. The area tourism office is located in the building and frequently asks for assistance with obtaining information from visitors. There is an ongoing strategy in place to gain visitor information and convert this information to electronic data. A strategy is characterized as the approach a business or organization utilized to obtain its purpose of action. The main economic impact to the area is tourism based. It would be appropriate to hypothesize that obtaining as much information on visitors in the area would be needed to make decisions to properly market the area and develop proper strategies for solutions. A simple research method is used known as visitor information sheet that includes name, address, length of visit, number of times visitor has visited the area, and e-mail (if they choose to provide). The organization I work for plans two large major area events. One event draws crowds up to 10,000 people. This past year, it was decided to sell tickets on-line.
