Description of Incident
On February 14th 2010 at 2:30pm Sarah Miller age 32 was travelling south on Country Rd. 21 in her Red 2004 Honda Civic when a Blue 1998 Ford Ranger travelling north driven by Mike Turner age 18 failed to signal and look for oncoming traffic before turning west onto Corbett Street. As a result the Ford Ranger collided with the Honda Civic and the front end of both vehicles look to have exceeded damages of $1000. Sarah Miller sustained whiplash from the crash.
Cause of Incident
As Mike Turner failed to look for oncoming traffic from the north and signal his upcoming turn to the west it resulted in a collision between Mr.Turner’s Blue 1998 Ford Ranger and Sarah Miller’s Red Honda Civic. Mr.Turner was the informer as he was the only person who knew he was about to turn left. As he neglected to send out the signal that he was going to turn the oncoming driver, Sarah Miller was uninformed of his intent and a crash occurred. If the message from the signal light would have been blinking Sarah Miller may have been able to quickly decode the message and make either an abrupt stop or slow down. The barrier of communication that took place in this situation would fall under the category of being an environmental issue with regard of the age of the driver in the Blue 1998 Ford Ranger who caused the crash. With the fact that he was eighteen years old it raises the concern that this incident occurred because he was impatient and did not want to wait for the Honda to pass by. The bad judgment call he made at that time resulted in a crash and an injury of one driver; all of which could have been prevented if he had waited.
