The 1960's was a decade of huge changes and it made a noise. Be it positive news or controversial, there was something going on and for the most part we benefitted from it. If the movements that occurred during this era was not made, we still would be treated unfairly. The events and issues of the 60's has impacted the lives of the new generation in a positive way.

The events such as the Civil Rights Movement and Women’s Liberation has impacted my personal life by providing equality. Being an African-American woman my chances would probably have been slim to none if these movements of change did not occur. My last job, I was employed at a computer company helping customers troubleshoot their computer over the phone. There was only two females employed(myself included) and predominantly Caucasian workers. If this was during the 1960s and or before these movements were made, there would be no way I would have gotten a job like such. It was heard for women to ge jobs let alone a job that was considered to be suited for men only. With computer based jobs, certain companies still prefer to hire men over women. With the Civil Rights movements and companies must hire an individual no matter their gender or race. It would not even be possible for African-Americans, Caucasians, and other races to even work in the same place together; due to the Civil Rights Movements, equality was provided for minorities. Being a woman, it would have been difficult in general to work, to be taken seriously, and give an chance if it was not for women’s liberation which stood up for the rights and equality for women. Jobs are no longer traditional genered for the most part. I can apply for jobs that women might have shy away from due to the positions mainly for men.
