Do you know someone that has kids and is in the process of divorce or splitting from their significant other? Chances are you know one, if not, more people in this situation. The children are something that the parents often worry about while going through divorce. This topic can be a difficult and sometimes controversial one. In the 21st century parenting while split apart does not always work out well, however if the parents agree about discipline, teach their children healthy habits, and make sure the children develop properly, then good parenting can still be accomplished while divorced. With the divorce rates as high as they are in the United States knowing how to parent while divorced is something of importance. The chart below shows how many marriages in the past years have ended in divorce.

Co-Parenting is often what happens when a couple decides to divorce. Co-Parenting means parenting with another person while not living together. In order to do this successfully the plan should always be set out in advance. The parents should agree on what they expect from their children and how they want to raise the children. They need to be able to let the child know what is and is not ok and what the consequences will be when they do something wrong. Also, the differences between the two parents should be set aside while the children are around. This will help in ensuring that the child does not feel in the middle or uncomfortable around their parents. According to Harriet S.
