Business Communication Trends

Business communication trends are changing and evolving every day. Vanir, Inc. is a construction management company and communication is a required part of project completion. Different communication trends are helpful to complete a project on-time and under budget. Electronic, paper documents, and verbal are messages are generated by business trends.

On a project, communication is an essential part of daily activities. One communication tool for the contractor is a “request for information (RFI).” The contractor submits a RFI for questions on the drawings or specifications. The document is then reviewed to make sure they question is clear and conveys the problem. The design team responds with new or revised information and possibly sketches. This form of communication helps the team members realize a problem and correct it. Meetings are held every week to update the progress of the building, and meeting minutes are generated. This tool helps team members take into account what was said and what commitments have been made. If the meeting minutes are incomplete or not written clearly, important items may not be completed in a timely fashion. The meeting minutes can also serve as task list for what needs to be done. A construction jobsite has several trades working each day. Some trades are required to coordinate installation. If these trades are not communicating, this causes rework or items to be missed, and the companies lose money.

Technology, teamwork, and job flexibility are common business trends at Vanir, Inc. Over the past 18 years, the technology in the construction environment has greatly improved.
