Reading the story “Hamlet”, I think the first act is the most important part in the story, because the first act is where the Hamlet meets with the ghost or dead former King of Denmark, Old Hamlet, Claudius’ brother and this is where Hamlet finds out that the dead former king was actually killed by Claudius. I think that this is the important part in this story, because without the ghost, Hamlet will never know the secret behind the death of former king of Denmark and after the ghost telling Hamlet the truth, the story started to move toward the revenge to the Claudius. In addition, analyzing the major character in the story “Hamlet”, I think that Hamlet is the protagonist in this story because the story is named after him, and most of the action centers around him. Also I think that antagonist in this story is Claudius because Claudius actually murdered Hamlet’s father. Moreover, I think that not only that Hamlet is a protagonist but also he is an antagonist, because all of the feelings that Hamlet has after the ghost telling the truth make Hamlet to have revenge to Claudius and I think the feeling of revenge kind of make Hamlet as an antagonist. In addition, I think that after the ghost or the old king telling Hamlet that he was murdered, Hamlet seems to forget all other aspects of his life, and even his love for Ophelia. I think that if the ghost never appeared to Hamlet and never talk about the truth, Hamlet might able to live a joyful life. Also if I was that ghost, I will never ask my son to get a revenge on the person who killed me, because I do not want my son to suffer from killing another person.
