ENDOCRINE
Information on the Human Organ System
Explain how the organ system interacts with other organ systems in the human body.
The endocrine system releases hormones directly into the bloodstream and travels to targeted organs in the body. There are three general classes of hormones which are, steroid hormones, amino acid derivatives, and peptide hormones that coincide with different body functions and organs. There are eight major glands that secrete these hormones and help the body function:
Hypothalamus Gland is important to the female organ function which regulates things such as menstrual cycles, pregnancy, birth, and milk production. Thyroid Gland regulates the body temperature and weight.
The pancreas produces insulin and glucagon which work together to keep the amount of sure in the blood at the right level and gives the body enough fuel to maintain energy.
The adrenal glands have two parts, the outer part regulates the balance of the salt and water in the body and the inner part increases the blood pressure and rate of the heart when the body has stress.
The gonads are the sex organs, the ovaries and testes, and are the main source of sex hormones.
The pineal gland is stimulated by the nerves from the eyes. It releases melatonin which helps regulate the awake and sleep cycle.

List the organs in this system and state the function of each organ listed.
Hypothalamus
* Located in the lower central part of the brain
* Important in regulation of satiety, metabolism, and body temp.
* Secretes hormones that stimulate or suppress the release of hormones in the pituitary gland.
Thyroid Gland
* Located in the lower front part...
