1.0 Introduction
This report aims help us to understand: online collaboration and its benefits to Boeing; the level of collaboration and the parties involved; how does technology facilitate collaboration. I will explain these questions through a research of the case study “Boeing changes the nature of its business with global collaboration”.
The Boeing Company is one of the largest airplane manufacturers in the world. Rivaled only by European giant Airbus in the aerospace industry, Boeing is a leader in research, design and manufacture of commercial jet airliners, for commercial, industrial and military customers. Boeing's goals are twofold: To understand and to take advantage of marketplace changes, and to reduce waste and increase optimal usage of its resources. There are several reasons for why the Boeing Company looking for collaboration. The first reason is airplanes are huge and enormously complex. Their raw material and technologies are needed all over the world. And another reason is sales of a “global product” are enhanced when people in other countries are building parts of the airplane. Companies in these countries may then buy from Boeing. So the Boeing Company looking for collaboration is necessary.

2.1 Describe online collaboration and its benefits to Boeing.
Collaboration is a working practice whereby individuals work together to a common purpose to achieve business benefit. It is a recursive process where two or more people or organizations work together to realize shared goals. There are many benefits of a company go for collaboration. Such as-
* Achieve best practice: collaboration enables organizations to focus on their own competencies within the overall supply chain.
* Reduce lead times and increase market responsiveness: good information systems between partners who are structured to maximize efficiency across the supply chain helps reduce lead times and improve responsiveness.
