Abstract
As long as there is a war or peace keeping mission, there will always be a need for counterinsurgency operations. To achieve successful counterinsurgency operation you cannot be one or two dimensional but must be 3 and sometimes 4 dimensional because the situations are not engraved in stone but are fluid and constantly changing with the times. From these two examples you will see a hardened route with little flexibility and a more fluid route that is open to adaption and improvisation but they both have their rights and faults that you must balance to achieve what works best according to the missions end statement.
