The workplace at Google can be characterized as zany, unconventional, and fun. Murals and decorations expressing local personality are found in every office, video games, pool tables, and pianos are available to employees, and cafes and “microkitchens” stocked with delicious food are free for the Google workers. Google keeps the workplace happy and enjoyable in order to drive employees to maintain their focus and be productive. I would like to work at Google in order to enjoy the many unique benefits that Google offers to its employees, such as free shuttle buses, no uniforms, and free laundry services. The beautiful, technologically advanced facility is also a factor that would make me want to work at Google.

The cost of Google’s service indubitably one’s privacy. Google maintains every single search query that anyone makes forever. This is almost 2 billion queries a day that Google possesses. People admit things to the search engine box that they would never admit to anyone else, and the fact that Google keeps these records is a serious breach in privacy. Our digital footprint can attract prying eyes such as marketers, hackers, and even worse, the government and police. Moreover, Google has no choice but to hand over user information if prompted by higher authorities, and this often leads to arrests and investigations. I do not feel worried by this diminished privacy, despite the constant surveillance. If I was embarrassed of typing something in the search box, then I should not be typing it in the first place. Therefore, I am not concerned when using Google products because I keep my searches appropriate and unsuspicious.

I was most impressed by Google’s visual search application, Google Goggles. This intriguing feature allows you to search the world around you using your device’s camera.
