Thinking about Thinking

Critical thinking is a perplexing amount of endless inspirational possibilities for a solution. In the fast paced lives we lead as Americans within the melting pot we call home, thinking is bypassed by the reliance of several factors. One of these factors and a large role playing factor is the quick and pleasing straight to the point thinking process. In addition and playing the advocate of the previous stated is the process of thought based off “enculturization.” Critical thinking spawning from self deception is a dynamic that influences the thinking process. Now also ponder on the effects that persuasion can direct ones thought process. Is persuasion the only aspect to consider for the empowerment or limitations of the thought process?

It is a Tuesday morning and you have just returned to work from a three day weekend. Your co-worker whom you have worked with for several years comes to you just like every day that has past asking the same questions. Or so you assume. The difference is this time he is not coming to you asking the same questions. This time he is coming to you asking where you have been. When you departed on for what you believed to be a holiday weekend this same co-worker came to inform you that the boss said that your department will be working over the normally scheduled holiday. You missed this information because of the expectations of hearing the same information you always hear from your repetitive long time co-worker. Ones thinking process is that you will be answering the same questions with the same answers you have done for many years. This thinking process inhibits the communication process as well.

Enculturization follows in the footsteps of this quick thinking process previously discussed. The way these two roles play hand in hand with each other is by preconceived thinking. These notions are reflecting upon what is expected from the culture that is familiar. When a child is raised poorly...
