The issues that motivated Muslim Bengalis to support the movement for the creation of Pakistan and later motivated the movement separation from Pakistan were not separate historical events but part of a continuum within the consciousness of the Bengalis of eastern Bengal.

Movement for the creation of Pakistan (1947) and later division of Pakistan into two different states (1971) was two significant events in the history of subcontinent. It has great impact in the life of these states especially on Bengalis. From the early historical period Bengalis have always been deprived from their rights. By the passes of time they become conscious about their rights and the result was supporting the movement for separation of India and Pakistan on the basis of religion on 1947. The movement was successful but there were not any noticeable change on Bengalis rights, so they again fought for their rights and the result is today’s Bangladesh. Although in terms of time there were two different movements, the intention of the Bengalis participating in both the movements were the same. It was all about rights. It was nothing but the continuum within the consciousness of the Bengalis of eastern Bengal.

In 1857 after taking control of India from the company British Government beginning to give authority to the growing recognition that Indians should have more of a role in their own governance by passing the Government of India Act on August 2, 1858. That India was consisting of both Muslim and Hindus. The deprivations start here especially for the Bengali Muslims.

Again after 1947 India and Pakistan become divided on the basis of religion. It was the thought that it will be peaceful for all the Muslims and Hindus live separately, so they established two different states India and Pakistan.
